Dr. Daniel P. McCauliffe
Dr. McCauliffe grew up in West Pawlet, VT and Granville, NY. After graduating from Rensselaer (RPI) and Albany Medical College he completed a three-year training program in internal medicine and then served back a health professional scholarship obligation with the Air Force as a board certified internal medicine specialist. He subsequently completed specialty training in dermatology, including a dermatology residency and an immunodermatology research fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He is a Board Certified dermatologist.
After completing his dermatology training, Dr. McCauliffe became a faculty member of the Dermatology Department at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. He was the Director of the Dermatology Clinics at the University and trained physicians to become dermatologists. He engaged in patient care and conducted research on dermatologic diseases. He has written over 85 scientific publications and numerous articles on health care reform.
After nine years at the University of North Carolina, he returned “home” to take over the dermatology practice of Dr. Donald McIntyre in Rutland, VT. Since returning to Vermont, Dr. McCauliffe has founded the Rutland Skin Center and is devoted to bringing state-of-the-art medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatologic treatments to patients in the Rutland area.
Dr. McCauliffe remains active in academic pursuits. Since leaving the University he has published a number of scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has been active in Vermont’s health care reform efforts through publications and public appearances.
In his spare time he spends time with his family and enjoys the great outdoor activities that Vermont offers. After all the years away, he finds it great to be back in Vermont.
