Daxxify®, Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau® for dynamic wrinkles

Dr. McCauliffe introduced the use of Botox in the Dermatology Department at the University of North Carolina in the 1990’s. He has lectured on the medical and cosmetic use of Botox and has taught numerous physicians on how to safely and effectively use Botox for treating aging skin lines and excessive perspiration (hyperhidrosis). He began offering Daxxify in 2022, the long-lasting “Botox alterntative”. We are delighted to add Daxxify to our aesthetic services.

Daxxify, Botox, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau are trade names for different versions of the botulinum protein that blocks a nerve’s ability to cause muscle contraction. They can be used to dramatically improve scowl lines between the brows, crow’s feet and horizontal forehead frown lines. Several small injections are made into the muscles of those areas. This procedure only takes a few minutes and causes minimal discomfort. It is a very inconspicuous procedure with very conspicuous results. Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau have similar safety profiles and longevities to Botox. However, Daxxify, the latest of the FDA approved botulinum treatments in the US, is superior to all other botulinum products in longevity of effects.

After over a year of using Daxxify, we have learned that most patients have found it to start working sooner and to be longer lasting than Botox and Dysport, particularly in the scowl area.  Most people are getting at least one month longer duration based on surveys and follow-up exams.  Daxxify typically started to wear off during the 4th month and completely wore off by 20-24 weeks.  Botox and Dysport usually start to wear off in the 3rd month and are completely worn off by 16 weeks. Daxxify’s effects tend to start a few days sooner and achieve maximal effects quicker than the other products.

See the treatment fee table at the end of this page that compares our treatment fees for Botox and Dysport to Daxxify. Cost per week to maintain results, estimating that results have completely worn off by 16 weeks for Botox and Dysport, and 20 weeks for Daxxify, calculated for the glabellar frown lines (between the eyebrows): Botox= $21.88/wk; Dysport= $20/wk; Daxify = $19.50/wk.  Most people find that the maintenance cost for Dysport and Daxxify are similar while that of Botox is a bit more expensive. With less frequent treatments with Daxxify there will be fewer appointments, fewer chances of bruising, and less worry that your treatment will wear off before the next social event.

Daxxify/Botox/Dysport treatments only take minutes but the results last months

Only a few injections are needed to treat each wrinkled area. These injections take only a few minutes. Patients tolerate this procedure well with minimal discomfort. After treatment you can immediately return to your daily activities, usually with no visual evidence that the procedure was performed. The initial injections start taking effect within 1 to 5 days, last several months, and gradually wear off. Longer term injections may have longer lasting effects. Daxxify has significantly longer lasting effects as discussed above.

Hyperhidrosis (excessive perspiration)

For underarm perspiration only a few injections are needed for each area. This is a rather painless and quick procedure. For treating heavy perspiration of the hands, multiple very small injections are needed for best results. Topical anesthetic cream and two injections numb the hand to minimize the discomfort. The initial injections start taking effect within 2 to 7 days and lasts up to a year in some patients.
