Vascular Laser Therapy
Vascular lasers produce an intense light beam that selectively heats up and collapses blood vessels while minimizing injury to other skin structures. The vascular laser works best on removing enlarged facial blood vessels, but is also effective in treating vessels on other areas of the body. Usually one to three treatment sessions will fade most small vessels, although some vessels are more resistant. This procedure only takes minutes and causes mild temporary discomfort. Fair skinned individuals are best suited for vascular laser treatment as darker skin pigment blocks the laser light from getting to the vessels. Patients should avoid tanning before this procedure, as darker skin will make the treatment less effective. The following before and after pictures were taken of patients treated by Dr. McCauliffe.
This patient had enlarged blood vessels on the cheek that faded after only one treatment.
This patient had several spider veins treated on her chest. The after picture was taken after only one treatment session.
The vascular laser can be used to treat other blood vessel disorders such as this spot on the lower lip. The after picture was taken after only one treatment.
Leg veins are more resistant to laser treatment than are other vessels. It is best to use sclerotherapy for larger leg veins and laser treatment of the very small ones. Several laser treatments are usually required for best results.
