Office
Hours and Policies
Office Hours. The Allen Street office
normally has clinic hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and
Fridays from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Appointments. To make an
appointment call (802) 773-3553.
Appointment
Cancellations. If something comes up and you have a change in plans, we will
be grateful if you would call and cancel the appointment as soon as
possible so that other patients can use your appointment slot. You can
leave a message on our answering machine if you call after normal clinic
hours. Thanks.
Emergent Dermatological
Needs. If you have a problem that you don’t think can wait until the
next available appointment slot, let us know and we will make arrangements
to see you sooner. If you have a question or problem that can’t wait until
our next clinic day, please call 773-3553 to learn how to contact Dr.
McCauliffe after hours. Leave a message and he will call you as soon as
possible. If you think you have a more serious problem that needs immediate
medical attention and (or) might be life threatening please go to your
local emergency room without delay.
Referring Providers. If a doctor or
another healthcare provider referred you to the Rutland Skin Center, please
let us know so Dr. McCauliffe can send a letter that will provide them with
the details of your dermatology clinic visit.
Patient Information
Form.
To help us provide you with better medical care, we ask that all new
patients fill out a medical information form. You can get a copy of this
form by clicking here. You
can fill this out and bring it with you to your first appointment. We also
ask patients who have not been seen by us for three or more years to fill
out a new form.
Medication List. Please bring a
current list of all the medications you are currently taking whenever you
come in for an appointment. You should keep this list in your wallet or
purse and share it with other doctors you may visit.
Skin Biopsy Tests. Sometimes it is
necessary to take a skin biopsy to help figure out what is causing a skin
condition and to diagnose skin cancers. We send these biopsies away to a
pathologist who performs the microscopic examination. You or your insurance
company will get a separate bill from the pathologist for this service.
Laboratory Test
Results. It is very important that you get the results of any tests we
might order (e.g., skin biopsies, blood work, x-rays). We normally call our
patients with these results when we get them back. However, if you don’t
hear from us within three weeks, it is important that you call us for the
results.
Billing Questions. Our current health
care system is very complicated and it is sometimes difficult to keep track
of all the paperwork and understand the billing process. If you have any
questions regarding your bills, please let us know and we will do our best
to help you figure things out.
Insurance/Managed
Care Questions. It is often difficult for us and our patients to keep up with
the never-ending regulatory changes that are made by all the different
managed care and insurance companies. We will work with you to help resolve
problems that may arise from these regulations (e.g., refusal to pay for
certain prescriptions, lab tests, or follow-up visits).
