Vascular lasers produce an intense
light beam that selectively heats up and collapses blood vessels while
minimizing injury to other skin structures. The vascular laser works best on removing enlarged facial
blood vessels, but is also effective in treating vessels on other areas
of the body. Usually one to three
treatment sessions will fade most small vessels, although some vessels
are more resistant. This
procedure only takes minutes and causes mild temporary discomfort. Fair skinned individuals are best
suited for vascular laser treatment as darker skin pigment blocks the
laser light from getting to the vessels.
Patients should avoid tanning before this procedure, as darker
skin will make the treatment less effective. The following before and after pictures were taken of
patients treated by Dr. McCauliffe.
